Moms Demand Action Gun Sense Candidate Distinction
Michelle Oyola McGovern has been awarded the Gun Sense Candidate Distinction by Moms Demand Action because of her advocacy for common-sense gun legislation.
Wellington Leaders Endorse Michelle Oyola McGovern
Wellington Vice Mayor Michael Drahos, Councilwoman Tanya Siskind and Councilman Michael Napoleone are endorsing Michelle Oyola McGovern for Palm Beach County Commission, District 6! In their endorsements, the three Wellington leaders cited Michelle’s experience and accomplishments as a long-time community advocate.
Advisory Commission on Women Briefing
As Chair of the Advisory Commission on Women, Michelle Oyola McGovern, presented the group’s Annual Report to the Palm Beach County Commission.

The briefing covered a range of topics relating to local women of all backgrounds and social circumstances with the goal of increasing the interaction between organizations, governmental agencies, and institutions whose mission is to improve the lives of women.

Food Distribution in the Glades
Michelle had a wonderful and fulfilling time helping out at the food distribution in Belle Glade this month! They had plenty of healthy choices, including milk, papaya, asparagus, potatoes, and beets.

Big shoutout to Feeding South Florida, the City of Belle Glade, the Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office, and the Urban League of Palm Beach County for helping to put it all together. You guys make our community a better place! Thanks for everything you do.

Juneteenth at the Waterfront
Michelle and her husband, John, had a beautiful evening at the Juneteenth celebration at the Wellington Waterfront.

Thank you to the Sickle Cell Foundation of Palm Beach County for putting together such an amazing event complete with local vendors, traditional song and dance routines, and a top-tier fashion show!

Mid-County Democratic Club Meeting
Michelle got the chance to spend time with the Mid-County Democratic Club and talk about some of the important issues facing our community. It was a fun and constructive evening – and what a great turnout!

A BIG thanks to School Board Member Marcia Andrews for giving an excellent update on the state of our schools. 

South Florida Sun Sentinel
A longtime staffer for former Sen. Bill Nelson, McGovern has tallied a significant campaign war chest, raising $236,000. She’s also garnered a strong group of local endorsements, including McKinlay, Congresswoman Lois Frankel and Congressman Ted Deutch. Read more.
#THROWBACK: Renewal of the Keely Spinelli Grant for Schools
In 2019, Michelle Oyola McGovern and the Wellington Education Committee helped to renew the Keely Spinelli Grant, providing $400,000 for 11 local schools. The funds are designed to help students elevate their reading, science, and math skills. The fund still exists to this day. Read more.
